The myth within our bones
This week the story of a young girl retrieving an ancient sword from a lake enchanted the public. Social media is still abound with allusions to Arthurian legend, with many clearly happy with their new once and future queen of all nations. In another part of the world powerful leaders are about to vote on whether to elect a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman, while the most powerful man in that country faces similar allegations. The story of the girl pulling the sword from the lake has reignited the myth that lives in our very bones, that hides deep in the well of our being. This little, but powerful, event occuring during a time when women are struggling to be heard by men (and women) who refuse to listen - it evidences the power of myth.
